Term 1
Year 7 will spend Term 1 building the foundations of their Nature & Environment project, learning how to observe carefully, draw accurately and present their work with pride. They begin with a personalised title page to show their early skills before moving into continuous line drawing, varied line weight, formal elements such as line, shape, form and tone, and detailed mark‑making using pen. As the term progresses, pupils develop colour skills through pencil blending, pattern and texture studies, followed by an introduction to colour theory and basic watercolour techniques. Throughout all tasks they learn good sketchbook habits, how to annotate clearly, how to correct mistakes properly and how to make independent artistic choices, building confidence, resilience and creativity as they work.
